For immediate release

Contact: Richard Dehnert  634-2236

If you’ve been to the Verde Valley Guidance Clinic lately, chances are the smiling face that greeted you at the front desk belongs to Amy “Mimi” Evans.  In recognition of her outstanding work, Amy was recently honored as Employee of the Year at the Clinic’s awards dinner.  Employee of the year candidates were nominated and voted upon by their peers.  Amy’s nomination included high praise from one of her co-workers, “Mimi is wonderful.  She is always professional, willing to help, and works great with clients.  She is the backbone of the front desk, and is always there for clinical staff.  She works beyond her assigned duties when she is empathetic with clients in crisis, and I feel she is a stand-out employee at this organization.”
She is also not the first Amy Evans to be selected employee of the year at VVGC.  Nurse Amy Evans of the Clinic’s psychiatric medical team was a previous honoree.  In fact, when this year’s winner came to work at the Clinic a year and a half ago, she added “Mimi,” a family nickname, to differentiate the two.
Her nomination included additional praise from peers, “Throughout working with Mimi for the past year or so, I have come to the realization that she goes above and beyond her normal job duties.  She advocates for our clientele, she is extremely productive, she is a problem solver, and she manages to build great relationships both internal and external.  She definitely brings positive change to the agency. In my opinion, this is the least amount of recognition we can possibly give her, even though she deserves much more”, wrote one.
Citing her front line position as a Customer Service Representative, Verde Valley Guidance Clinic CEO Robert Cartia credited Amy with a major role in implementing the Clinic’s new “open access” model, which allows drop- ins without appointments to be seen as soon as a clinician has an opening.
At home, Amy and her husband, Shawn, have been married for 20 years. They have three sons, a daughter-in-law, and one grandson.  Amy enjoys cooking and spending time with family.
Upon receiving her award, she said, “I was very happy, excited, and honored, not to mention speechless! I love to help people, both those who receive services here and my co-workers.  I love my job.”
